Chief Simon Eze, a respected stakeholder from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, has described the commendation bestowed on Governor Peter Mbah by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) as a resounding validation of his visionary leadership and transformative governance.
Eze emphasized that the Guild’s recognition underscores the governor’s remarkable achievements in infrastructure, education, security, and economic growth, noting that such milestones provide a compelling case for his re-election in 2027.
In a chat with Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) and other media outfits on Monday, Chief Eze pledged to intensify grassroots sensitisation and mobilization efforts, ensuring that communities across Enugu fully appreciate the governor’s accomplishments.
The NGE, during its tour of key projects in Enugu as part of the 2026 All Nigerian Editors Conference (ANEC), lauded Governor Mbah’s administration for delivering solid infrastructure that is reshaping the state’s economy.
Over 300 editors, senior media executives, and veterans participated in the tour, which showcased landmark projects including the Enugu International Hospital, the 40km Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway, resuscitated state assets such as Hotel Presidential, modern Smart Schools, and the Integrated Livestock Hub capable of accommodating 40,000 cattle.
NGE President, Eze Anaba, described the infrastructural revolution as proof of what a sub-national government can achieve with visionary and deliberate leadership. “There’s solid infrastructure on ground that will grow the economy and expand the state. If Enugu can deploy resources this effectively, then there is hope for Nigeria,” he remarked.
Former Ogun State Governor and media veteran, Chief Segun Osoba, also commended Mbah’s strides in security, citing the swift deployment of surveillance assets that neutralized a kidnapping incident in Udi LGA. He urged other states to emulate Enugu’s hi-tech statewide security model.
Governor Mbah, in his remarks, reiterated that the projects are interconnected and deliberately designed to achieve his campaign promise of expanding Enugu’s economy from $4.4bn to $30bn, while positioning the state as a preferred destination for investment, tourism, and living.
Chief Eze, who is also the proprietor of Golden Tree Hotel and Suites and Seamark Electric Plc, stressed that the Akpugo movement remains a complementary force working in synergy with party leadership. He described the group as “a model support platform – inclusive, purposeful, and performance-driven,” dismissing opposition criticisms as baseless.
“Our mission is clear – to deliver a landslide victory for Governor Mbah in 2027. His record speaks for itself, and the people of Enugu will continue to stand firmly behind him,” Eze declared.
