A video recorded on September 22, 2026, has laid bare the dire state of the doctor’s office at the Igbologun Primary Health Care Centre, located in one of Amuwo Odofin’s riverine communities in Lagos State.
The footage, shared with Veracity Desk by former Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade (Hon.) Ayodele Adewale, reveals crumbling infrastructure and a lack of basic medical facilities. The revelations have sparked urgent questions about governance under the current Executive Chairman, Mr. Lanre Sanusi.
Despite receiving over ₦14 billion in Federal Government allocations in just 13 months, alongside additional support from the Lagos State Government and internally generated revenue running into hundreds of millions, the Local Government has reportedly failed to provide even the most essential healthcare services to its residents.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consistently emphasized that increased allocations from subsidy savings must translate into tangible grassroots development. Yet, in Amuwo Odofin, residents continue to endure dilapidated health centres, absence of ambulances, and lack of covered boats for medical outreach in riverine communities.
Comrade Adewale, who served as Executive Chairman between 2008 and 2014, has called for the suspension of Mr. Sanusi pending a comprehensive, independent investigation into the management of public funds. He insists that transparency, accountability, and measurable results are non-negotiable, declaring:
“These are public funds, and public resources come with public responsibilities.”
The demand is clear: residents of Amuwo Odofin deserve quality healthcare, responsible expenditure, and leadership that prioritizes their everyday needs.
