After years of tension and rivalry within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), peace has finally been brokered between two of its most prominent figures — Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), the union’s National President, and Mustapha Adekunle (Tafa Sego), Chairman of the Lagos State chapter.

The reconciliation was facilitated by legendary Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1), who stepped in as peacemaker in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland. The meeting took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, with several NURTW chieftains in attendance.

The development was announced on Tuesday via Kwam 1’s official Instagram page, where photographs from the peace meeting were shared. According to the post, the reconciliation was not a symbolic handshake but a genuine resolution of differences. “After years of an age-long rift, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego have finally settled their differences. And from what we know now, this is final,” the statement read.

The rift between the two men dates back several years and has been linked to leadership struggles within the Lagos chapter of the NURTW. Their rivalry has spilled into public events, including the January 2019 APC campaign rally in Ikeja, where violence erupted, leaving MC Oluomo injured and Sego declared wanted by police. Despite this, both men later served within the same NURTW leadership structure, though tensions persisted.

In January 2024, MC Oluomo resigned as Lagos State Chairman amid a power struggle, further fueling divisions within the union. More recently, tensions resurfaced at Kwam 1’s New Year All White Party in January 2026, when Sego’s faction reacted to the musician’s public recognition of MC Oluomo as NURTW leader, causing a commotion.

The latest reconciliation effort, therefore, marks a significant turning point. By bringing the two leaders together, Kwam 1 has not only resolved a long-standing feud but also reinforced his role as a cultural and social mediator.

Both MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego expressed delight at the outcome, with observers noting that the peace pact could stabilize the union and reduce tensions within Lagos’ transport sector.
