Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diplomatic and strategic relations with Israel as the country’s new Ambassador to the State of Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, officially presented her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The credential presentation, which took place on Monday in Jerusalem, formally marked the commencement of Ambassador Ufochukwu’s assignment as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Israel, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said in a statement.
Following the ceremony, the ambassador pledged to work towards expanding cooperation between both countries, saying her tenure would focus on promoting Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities while deepening bilateral engagement in critical sectors.
She listed trade and investment, agriculture, technology, innovation, security and cultural exchanges among the key areas that would receive greater attention, adding that stronger people-to-people relations would also remain a priority.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed optimism that the envoy’s appointment would further strengthen the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Israel, while creating fresh opportunities for strategic collaboration and sustainable development.
