Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, is set to be inaugurated today as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). Ahead of the ceremony, Fayose held a meeting with the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe.The inauguration of the REA Board is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Ministry of Power headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in July 2026 appointed Fayose as chairman of REA.
The Presidency said Fayose would head the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta as members and non-executive directors, while the incumbent Director General of the agency, Abba Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed will make up the remaining board members.
In preparation for the inauguration, Fayose met the Minister of Power in his office yesterday, a meeting he said centred on plans to ensure greater effectiveness of the REA.
“I met with the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, an engineer, today, and we had fruitful discussions,” Fayose said.
