Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Communications Group and the Asiwaju of Ara, stands as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished figures in advertising and public relations. A talent hunter and visionary, he embodies conscience, decorum, dignity, discipline, and integrity, virtues that have defined his career and character.

Yet, beyond the boardroom and industry accolades lies a man of depth and humanity. Those who have worked closely with him for over two decades know not only his brilliance in decision-making but also his rare ability to balance responsibilities seamlessly. This quality has set him apart as both a devoted family man and an exceptional manager of people.

The past seven months, however, have tested his resilience in ways no professional challenge ever could. Barely had the dust settled on the burial of his father when fate struck again, the passing of his beloved mother. The double loss left Olugbodi grappling with the most personal story of all: the sudden vacuum of parenthood.

Friends and colleagues describe him as a towering figure whose creativity and strategic brilliance have shaped generations. Yet behind the accolades lies a son stripped of the comforting anchors of father and mother. In his own words, he has spoken of the “emptiness that comes when the two pillars of your existence are gone.” For a man whose career thrives on crafting meaning and connection, the silence of parental absence is a stark reminder that no success can shield one from the rawness of grief.

His mother, Mrs. Grace Olabisi Olugbodi JP, fondly remembered as Extraordinary Grace, passed away at 83 on April 18, 2026, just a week after the burial of her husband of over 65 years. His father, Chief Joshua Oyedele Olugbodi, a former senior executive of the Central Bank of Nigeria, died on December 6, 2025, at the age of 94. A celebrated community leader and philanthropist, he served as the Bobagunwa of Ara and Chairman of Egbedore Local Government in Osun State. His legacy of leadership, generosity, and faith continues to inspire.

For Dr. Olugbodi, the journey ahead is not only about sustaining his professional impact but also about navigating life without the guiding voices that shaped his values and humanity. His story resonates far beyond the industry, an intimate portrait of love, loss, and the universal search for strength when the people who first gave us life are gone.

Through it all, he remains blessed with a remarkable wife, Aunty Biyi, who has been a flawless support system, spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. Together, the power couple, holders of the prestigious titles of Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju of Ara Kingdom in Osun State, have sustained an enviable love story for nearly 36 years.

As Nigeria’s advertising and PR industry continues to benefit from his legacy, stretching its influence across Africa and into global markets, his narrative now embodies not just professional excellence but also the raw humanity of loss. It is a reminder that behind every brand architect lies a deeply personal story, one that shapes the authenticity of the messages they craft.
