Key stakeholders in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector convened in Abuja today for a strategic regulatory engagement and courtesy visit hosted by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The session, chaired by NMDPRA’s Authority Chief Executive, Mr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, alongside his management team, brought together industry leaders committed to reinforcing efficiency and resilience across the nation’s petroleum supply and distribution network.
Representing the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) was its National Executive President, Comrade (Dr. Otunba) Salimon Akanni Oladiti (JP). Similarly, the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) was led by its National Executive President, Alhaji Lawal Yusuf Othman, who was accompanied by senior members of his delegation.
Underscoring the significance of the high‑profile meeting, the union’s delegation included Deputy President, Comrade Akin Oladejo; Acting General Secretary, Comrade Otite Onohwohwo; National Security Coordinator and PTD Lagos Zonal Council Chairman, Comrade Alhaji Gbolahan Saheed Adigun; PTD National Chairman, Comrade Mathias O. Ote; Comrade Joseph Akinlaja, former General Secretary of NUPENG and stakeholder; Comrade Musliu Adeniyi, Secretary of PTD Warri Zone; and Comrade Suleiman M. Pema, Assistant General Secretary (Research & Public Affairs), NUPENG.
Stakeholder at the meeting extensively focused on practical strategies to remove logistical bottlenecks impeding smooth product distribution, improve operational efficiency through the adoption of modern technologies, and reinforce energy security as a catalyst for national productivity.
All parties however reaffirmed their commitment to strengthened collaboration and synergy aimed at ensuring seamless nationwide product distribution. They further agreed to convene follow-up meetings and technical workshops to drive sustained progress and maintain momentum in achieving these shared objectives.
