The United States Mission in Nigeria has reminded Nigerian travellers of the importance of adhering strictly to U.S. immigration laws and visa conditions during their stay in the country.
In a message posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Mission emphasized that compliance with visa terms is essential to safeguarding future travel and study opportunities.
“Staying compliant with U.S. immigration laws isn’t just the right thing to do; it protects your future and keeps opportunities open for Nigerian travelers,” the post read.
The Mission advised applicants to respect the duration of stay authorized on their visas, keep travel documents updated, and avoid actions that could compromise their eligibility for future entry into the United States.
It further noted that compliance benefits both individual travellers and the broader U.S.–Nigeria relationship, stressing that “when you respect the process, everyone wins.”
The reminder comes amid ongoing U.S. efforts to curb visa overstays and preserve the integrity of its immigration system. Nigerians travelling for study, work, or leisure were urged to honour the conditions attached to their visas and make responsible choices that protect their long-term aspirations.
