No fewer than 85 All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants in Zamfara State, led by Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, have declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal’s 2027 re-election bids following the party’s National Assembly primary elections.
The aspirants, drawn from various constituencies after the APC House of Assembly primaries, made the declaration during a meeting in Gusau aimed at consolidating party unity after the conclusion of the screening process.
Receiving the delegation on Tuesday, Matawalle urged the 85 unsuccessful aspirants to remain united, steadfast, and committed to the growth and success of the APC despite the outcome of the primaries.
He assured them that the APC National Working Committee (NWC) was currently reviewing all petitions arising from the exercise and called for calm, noting that the party’s internal processes were still ongoing.
According to him, the APC remains a political platform anchored on fairness, justice, and equal opportunities for all members at every level.
The aspirants, who were reportedly not cleared by the party’s screening committee, used the visit to reaffirm their loyalty to the APC and their readiness to continue supporting the party’s leadership.
The delegation was led by Sulaiman Shu’aibu Shinkafi, who expressed appreciation for Matawalle’s “fatherly role” in promoting unity within the party.
The development is seen as part of broader reconciliation efforts within the APC in Zamfara ahead of the 2027 general elections.
