Unless one chooses to be economical with the truth or deliberately ignore reality, the achievements of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. (Barr.) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, are too numerous to overlook. His record of performance makes a compelling case for a second term in office.
Every indigene of Enugu can attest that Governor Mbah has touched virtually all sectors of human endeavor, faithfully fulfilling his campaign promises as outlined in his socio-economic agenda. In fact, a review of his manifesto reveals that he has delivered even more than he pledged. The evidence is visible across the state.
Governor Mbah has proven himself not just as a talker but as a doer — a dynamic leader, savvy technocrat, and dexterous administrator par excellence. He is a square peg in a square hole, and his second term would only amplify the positive impact already felt across Enugu. His public sector acumen has transformed governance in ways that resonate in every community.
The forthcoming “Akpugo 4 Peter Mbah – 2027” Mega Rally in Nkanu West Local Government Area is expected to redefine grassroots politics and mobilize support for his reelection. For many, there is no vacancy in Enugu Government House until 2031.
Governor Mbah’s achievements are both commendable and phenomenal. Unlike previous administrations constrained by weak revenue generation, he has built a financially assertive state capable of funding ambitious development without overdependence on Abuja. The adoption of Treasury Single Account systems, Enterprise Resource Planning technology, and citizen engagement frameworks has institutionalized transparency at unprecedented levels.
Perhaps the most visionary element of his governance is the New Enugu City project — a 10,000-hectare smart urban hub with modern infrastructure, industrial parks, digital connectivity, and integrated residential systems. This bold vision positions Enugu as a global investment destination rather than a mere regional center.
His transport revolution further reflects futuristic thinking. The launch of Enugu Air, ultramodern transport terminals at Holy Ghost, Abakpa, Garriki, and Nsukka, and the deployment of CNG-powered buses are transforming mobility into an economic driver for trade, tourism, and investment.
In agriculture, Mbah has shifted the paradigm from subsistence to industrial-scale agribusiness. Smart Farm Estates, mechanization partnerships, revitalized agro-industrial assets, and investments worth over ₦140 billion are repositioning agriculture as a pillar of economic diversification and wealth creation.
The tourism sector is also witnessing revival. The restoration of Hotel Presidential and Nike Lake Resort, completion of the Enugu International Conference Centre, and development of a Nollywood hub signal the rise of a creative economy capable of attracting global attention.
What sets Mbah apart is the scale of intentionality behind his governance. Roads are linked to agriculture, education to digital innovation, healthcare to productivity, tourism to revenue generation, and energy reforms to industrialization. Governance has become data-driven, measurable, and performance-oriented.
Critics may debate politics, but the evidence across Enugu is undeniable. From urban centers to rural communities, the state is undergoing its most comprehensive transformation since creation. The 2027 election will therefore be more than a contest; it will be a referendum on whether Enugu continues on this trajectory of disruptive development or reverts to slower, incremental patterns of the past.
Continuity is essential. The foundations being laid across infrastructure, education, healthcare, energy, technology, industry, and human capital require sustained leadership to mature into the economic renaissance already taking shape. For many, Peter Mbah is not just governing Enugu — he is redesigning its future.
One good turn deserves another. His Excellency Dr. Peter Mbah is a rare gift to Enugu, and his sterling record within three years speaks volumes. I urge all eligible voters to come out en masse in 2027 to re-elect our performing governor.
