Hearing of the alleged case against former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC) has been adjourned to Wednesday, April 1, 2206.
El-Rufai had appeared before the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State on Tuesday.
During proceedings at the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State on Tuesday, the defence counsel, Ukpon Akpan, filed a motion requesting that the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, recuse himself from the case, citing alleged bias and a pending petition against him.
However, the defence later filed another motion seeking to withdraw that same application for recusal.
The court was unable to proceed with the bail hearing as scheduled because the prosecution had only just submitted its counter-affidavit in response to the bail application.
As a result, Justice Aikawa adjourned the case to Wednesday for the hearing of the bail application.
A similar case filed by ICPC at the Kaduna State High Court against El-Rufai was also adjourned to April 10 for further proceedings.
