A joint investigation by the Department of State Services, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Federal Ministry of Aviation has identified and detained five officers over an alleged security breach involving former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on February 12, 2026.

The officers are accused of receiving bribes to facilitate unauthorised access to restricted areas in order to obstruct lawful security operations.

They are said to have confessed to the allegations and were subsequently handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution.

Officials from the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Customs Service whose actions were not deemed criminal but involved the misuse of their uniforms to grant unauthorised access will face administrative sanctions.
