The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the Police Service Commission, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the application portal—originally opened on December 15, 2025—will now close on February 8, 2026.

The extension, he explained, follows the receipt of over 400,000 applications nationwide, as well as a review that revealed significant disparities in participation across states.

The PSC disclosed that while states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applications, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra reported comparatively low submissions.

According to the Commission, the extension is aimed at ensuring equitable representation of all states in the recruitment process.

The PSC encouraged all eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with low application numbers, to apply through the official recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

It also called on state governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise qualified applicants within their jurisdictions before the new deadline.

The PSC and the Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a fair, transparent, and credible recruitment process.
