Nigerians in diaspora has called on all Nigerians above 18 years old to go and register in readiness to vote in the forthcoming 2027 general elections “because that’s the only way to ensure that we elect credible candidates with integrity into public offices in 2027”.
In a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer for the Tinubu New York Support Group (TNSG) in United States, Alhaji Aremu Jimoh, the group urged Nigerians who are 18 years and above to carry out their civic duties by going to INEC’s designated centers and register in preparation for the fresh presidential poll.
The group noted that President Bola Tinubu remained the best choice for Nigerians to drive home dividends of democracy and advance socio-economic empowerments that can make life more abundant for the citizenry.
“The strength of democracy is citizens’ mass participation. In a participatory democracy, the citizens largely determine who to entrust with the country’s leadership at various levels. Meanwhile, from the object point of view President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be allowed to continue in office and advance dividends of democracy in the interest of all Nigerians irrespective of their tribes or religions.
“Voter apathy, among other factors, is the reason why our elections produce unsatisfactory results. As the 2027 general elections approach, we call on all qualified Nigerians not only to register, but register to vote during elections because that’s the only way to ensure that we elect credible candidates with integrity and capacity into public offices in 2027 and beyond.
“To register and not vote is exactly tantamount not having registered. A situation where less than 20% of registered voters or less actually vote during our elections gives opportunity to election riggers to triumph at our elections which automatically results in bad choices for the country, and bad choices produce bad leadership which in turn produces bad governance. Tinubu remains the best man for the job and we must all give him the support he deserves.”
