Otunba Segun Showunmi, convener of the National Opposition Movement Coalition (NOMC), a platform aimed at fostering grassroots consensus for the selection of future leaders has mourned the death of a popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
This was contained in a press statement widely circulated by the Ogun State born politician on Thursday and made available to newsmen through his media team.
He said the revered Islamic scholar’s contributions to theology, Islamic jurisprudence and history left an indelible mark on the intellectual and spiritual landscape of Nigeria’s society adding that Dahiru’s spiritual guide and influence reached far beyond Northern Nigeria.
He added that Dahiru was not only a custodian of religious knowledge but also a unifying voice for peace, tolerance and understanding among Muslims and people of other faiths.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE REPORTED PASSING OF SHEIKH DAHIRU USMAN BAUCHI
I have received with deep sorrow the news of the reported passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a revered Islamic scholar, teacher, and spiritual guide whose influence reached far beyond Northern Nigeria.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge, the preservation of Islamic scholarship, and the moral upliftment of society. His teachings shaped generations, his compassion comforted countless families, and his voice of wisdom provided guidance in moments of national uncertainty.
His departure is an immense loss to the Muslim Ummah, to Nigeria, and to all who cherished the values of peace, humility, learning, and devotion that he embodied so consistently throughout his life.
We pray that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
May Allah also comfort his family, his students, his disciples, and the millions who drew strength and inspiration from his legacy.
Nigeria has lost a towering figure.
May his legacy of faith, scholarship, and peace continue to guide us.
