The former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Rahman Mimiko on Thursday, October 3, 2024 joined the club of the septuagenarians as he marked his 70th birthday after years of meritorious accomplishments in both private and public sectors.
Mimiko a Nigerian medical doctor and politician who was born October 3, 1954 was seen with his political ally and confidant, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja in far away United Kingdom on the auspicious day of his birthday anniversary.
Both men were conspicuously sighted complementing each other with their contagious dance steps in commemoration of the platinum jubilee of a political juggernaut and trailblazer, otherwise known as “Iroko” in the political circle.
Akinlaja in a statement made available to veracitydesk.com and other newsmen congratulated Dr Mimiko on the occasion of his 70th birthday, adding that, “It is a thing of joy for anyone to attain such a milestone, let alone a man who has been favoured by God to be Governor with many indelible achievements and excellent records of service to humanity; first as a life safer, a medical Doctor and subsequently Federal Minister who later governed Ondo State for 8 consecutive years.
“Permit me to, on behalf of my family and associates, congratulate you on your 70th birthday. We appreciate the grace of God in your life. More than this, we note your humility, dedication and sobriety,” the statement reads.
While some would have been corrupted by the circumstances of power, Akinlaja said, “Dr Olusegun Rahman Mimiko has held his head high and remained sober and dedicated with integrity and finesse.”
Akinlaja said he wishes Mimiko well now and in the years ahead. “Happy birthday to the indomitable and indefatigable “Iroko”, congratulations, the statement concluded.
It is recalled that Mimiko served for two consecutive terms of 4 years from 2009 to 2017, whilst his associate, Joseph Akinlaja served for two-term of four years from 2011 to 2019 at the House of Representatives to represent the people of Ondo East and West Federal Constituency.
Both men are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
