The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) Monday evening has denied knowledge of any court order restraining it from embarking on any strike action to picket the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

A statement from the General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Lumumba Okugbawa seen by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) described the news as false and should be dismissed in its entirety.

The union’s scribe after commending its members for attaining substantial compliance to its earlier directive stressed that court processes are served by baliff and not through social media.

This reaction came on the heels of a restraining order from the National Industrial Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, September 29, 2025, despite Federal Government’s ongoing peace talks to resolve the rift between the management of Dangote Refinery and the oil and gas senior workers union.

Recall, PENGASSAN in its recent National Executive Council emergency meeting on Saturday, September 27 instructed all its branch chairmen to ensure that gas supply to the refinery is cut off without delay. The directive also included shutting all crude oil supply valves to the refinery and halting all loading operations for vessels headed there.

The union described the action as a necessary response to protect the constitutional rights of workers to unionise.

PENGASSAN attributed its latest action to Dangote Refinery’s alleged unilateral action in sacking over 800 staff members for joining the Association.
