Lagos State Government has unveiled plans to slaughter 3,000 cows everyday in Imota area of the state.
The state Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, disclosed this on Channels Television’s special programme, Nigeria’s Challenging Economy: Strategies For Recovery to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.
“We are building a logistic hub in Imota, the biggest in this part of the world. What that does for us is that it allows us to track what comes to Lagos,” he said.
“So Lagos interestingly will slaughter cows like 3,000 everyday. So where are they coming from? How can we track it? Today, if anything happens, our veterinary doctors slaughter then and burn them up. But we need to do better.”
He also revealed the state government’s plans to stock grains for Lagos citizens at least for nine months.
