Gospel musician and media entrepreneur Yinka Ayefele has confirmed that a fire outbreak gutted the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria in Ibadan on Friday night, leaving extensive damage to its facilities.
In a statement issued after the incident, Ayefele described the outbreak as “devastating,” noting that the fire razed the station’s studios—Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM—along with adjoining offices, including the newsroom, transmitter and server rooms, and other vital equipment.
“All efforts to fight the fire before the arrival of professional firefighters with our in-house fire extinguishers proved abortive because of the strength of the inferno,” the statement read.
Ayefele added that the full extent of the damage has not yet been determined, stressing that the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
He expressed gratitude to residents and passersby who joined staff members in battling the blaze before emergency responders arrived.
“We heartily appreciate every good-spirited Nigerian who stood by us and helped in fighting the inferno,” he said.
The incident occurred at the station’s Challenge, Ibadan, head office and has disrupted operations at one of Oyo State’s leading radio networks.
