A dramatic scene unfolded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday after a female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo was forcibly removed for allegedly assaulting a flight attendant.

Eyewitnesses said the altercation began midair when the woman engaged in a heated exchange with an air hostess, which quickly escalated into physical confrontation. Upon landing, the situation spiralled further as airport security intervened.

Viral videos circulating on social media show the passenger struggling with security personnel, her clothes torn during the scuffle, before being bundled into an airport security bus.

The incident immediately drew comparisons to the recent controversy surrounding Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1), who was slammed with a six-month flight ban by ValueJet following a reported altercation with airline staff in Abuja. Social media users were quick to tag the latest passenger “KWAM2,” mocking her for a similar public outburst.

In response, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) issued a fresh reminder to travellers, stressing that “passengers have responsibilities, not just rights” and warning that unruly behaviour will be met with strict consequences.

Ibom Air has yet to issue an official statement, but sources within the airline hinted that legal action could follow in line with Nigeria’s aviation regulations on disruptive passengers.

This latest incident adds to growing concerns over a rise in in-flight misconduct and the safety of airline crew in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
