Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has taken a fourth wife, a young woman identified as Hiqma, in a quiet ceremony held in Abuja over the weekend. The event was kept away from public attention until Bello’s third wife, Hafiza, confirmed the marriage via an Instagram post on Wednesday, July 17, 2025. In her message, Hafiza warmly welcomed Hiqma into the family, expressing joy and invoking divine blessings for their expanding household.
Hiqma, said to be around 23 years old, now joins the ranks of Bello’s other wives—Amina Oyiza Bello, Rashida Bello, and Hafiza Bello. The development has sparked a wave of reactions online, with some praising the unity among the wives while others questioned the timing of the marriage, given Bello’s ongoing legal battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged ₦80 billion fraud charges.
Nonetheless, insiders close to the family describe the ceremony as dignified and attended by a few close friends and relatives.
Yahaya Bello served as Kogi State Governor from January 2016 to January 2024 under the All Progressives Congress (APC). While he remains in the spotlight due to his current legal troubles, his new marriage has drawn both public curiosity and scrutiny.
