Dele Momodu, a former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in 2023 has denied allegations of owing Black Diamond Kitchen N380,000 for services rendered during the party’s presidential campaign.
The allegations stem from a small chops supply for a political event, but Momodu insists there was no such contract.
Momodu firmly rejects the debt accusations, calling for legal proceedings.
The contentious issue highlights the financial struggles faced by most small business owners in Nigeria.
Reacting on his social media platform on Friday, the PDP chieftain said:
“Last night, I received the above message via WhatsApp from a media colleague. When I saw that I was said to have owed one Black Diamond restaurant in Abuja, since 2022, I immediately smelt a rat, since I never knew nor interacted with the said restaurant at anytime. The motive behind the spurious claims, and cheap blackmail, became clearer, when the sponsor of the allegation turned out to be a media attack-dog.
“I have never had to get involved in such mundane assignments with several personal assistants at my disposal. The reporter also informed me that one attention-seeking aide published that he has paid N200k out of the imaginary bill. The idea was to apply a tar-brush against me but it was so unintelligently and crudely done.
“I have now seen a video of a mysterious lady claiming that I owed her restaurant, posted by Nyesom Wike’s Media Aide. Nothing could be far from the truth, utterly reckless and terribly irresponsible.
“I wish to request that the lady and her supposed boss provide the date the items were ordered and if I ordered physically or by phone or online. They should show proof of any conversation with me with dates and time and where and when my orders were delivered without collecting money, the reason their business allegedly “folded up”. And how they waited for three years for WIKE’S aide to help them…. I will be glad to have the addresses of the lady and her boss for full investigation…”
