The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR, Odunlade II, has announced the elevation of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ondo State, Chief (Dr.) Kayode Ajulo, OON, SAN, from the honorary title of Bamofin-Lewe to the prestigious title of Bamofin of Akure Kingdom.
The conferment, formally communicated in a letter dated April 7, 2025, is a significant recognition of Dr. Ajulo’s consistent dedication, professional excellence, and unblemished public service over the years. The monarch noted that the elevation follows thorough deliberations with the Deji-in-Council, stating that Ajulo’s contributions to law, justice, and national development make him a worthy recipient of this elevated honour.
In the recent letter, Oba Aladelusi described the elevation as “sequel to your exemplary leadership and outstanding qualities as a public servant who had dutifully served our dear nation, coupled with your unblemished record.”
The title “Bamofin of Akure Kingdom” comes 17 years after Dr. Ajulo was first honoured with the title of Bamofin-Lewe in 2008 during the administration of former Governor Olusegun Agagu in 2008. At the time, Ajulo was celebrated as a young, dynamic legal practitioner whose rising profile and service to the community earned him recognition from the traditional institution.
Dr. Ajulo is an esteemed scholar, legal professional, and public administrator, widely celebrated for his impactful contributions to law and governance. Born in Ibadan, Oyo State, to S.A.O. and Christianah Ajulo of Iyayu Quarters, Ifira-Akoko in Ondo State, his educational journey began at St. James’ Anglican Primary School, Oke-Bola, Ibadan, and continued at St. John’s Anglican Primary School, Iloro, Ilesa. He later attended Aquinas College, Akure, where he laid a solid academic foundation for his higher education.
A scholar of several reputable institutions in Nigeria and abroad, Dr. Ajulo is a Fellow of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and has been honoured with the national title of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

As part of the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of his reign, the Deji of Akure has chosen to honour a distinguished group of eminent and accomplished individuals with chieftaincy titles. Among the honourees is His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, whose maternal roots trace proudly to Akure. Others include Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, along with several other illustrious figures recognised for their outstanding contributions to society.
